Originally from our area, speed skating star Allison Baver now lives in Salt Lake City. When she recently returned to the area for an “Off the Ice” charity event we were able to do the interview and photo shoot you see here. The outfits you see are from her own Bodywear line. This feature includes photos from both Matt Doroshow and Mike Hirata. Click through to learn more on http://www.allisonbaver.com/

Q. When you look back on your skating career, what are few of your proudest or most memorable moments?

A. Winning an Olympic Bronze Medal in the ladies 3000m Relay in the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, it was quite the journey!
Signing with Wilhelmina Models NYC and representing Proctor & Gamble Beauty. The photos shoots were insane. Six tables of gold shoes and an unlimited number of gold dresses all in my size. A girls dream come true. Having my Mom, Dixie, at the photo shoot was special.
I broke my right leg and ankle in Sophia Bulgaria at the 2009 World Cup while making a pass to win the World Cup Title one year to the date of opening ceremonies. That was memorable alright!
The year I won the 2007 National Championships was more special than others because my grandmother Alice had passed away that year prior and I was still recovering a from an injury sustained in the 2006 Olympic games. I had to overcome a lot of emotional and physical pain. What I learned from this I was able to use in my recovery to the Olympic podium in 2010. I had to tape my ankle (which was a terrible feeling and not good for my sport) and take pain meds (which affects your focus). Nothing stopped me that season! A few weeks later in Milan, Italy I finished 3rd at the World Champs in Italy in the 3000m Super Final and 4th in the 1000m and 3rd in the Ladies 3000m relay.
Breaking the 1500m World Record in 2009 at the World Cup Salt Lake City, UT.
The time I skated is still the current American Record. This race was amazing. Wish I could repeat it and skate even faster. I still had a little left in me.
Qualifying for my first Olympic Games in 2002. I broke the American Record in the 1000m. I was so focused it did not even phase me until my Dad hugged me after that 1000m and said, “You did it!” That hug still brings me to tears. I guess I did do it.
